The premium of a car insurance policy for an American car or Canadian car is based on the blue book value of the car, and the package may cover the following coverages:

1. Collision
(Repairs to your own car) This coverage takes care of your own car's repairs after having a collision. Usually applies a deductible of 5% on the market value of your car. (500 USD minimum) Windshields and windows are covered within this coverage applying a 20% of deductible on the value of the window.

2. Theft
In case of having your car stolen, you will be reimbursed for the equivalent of the blue book value of your car minus the hired deductible. The usual deductible for this coverage is 10% with a minimum of 1,000 USD. This insurance coverage is extended to cover your loss from fire, earthquake and flood.

3. Medical Expenses to Occupants
The passengers including the driver are covered for medical expenses originated as a result of a car accident up to the amount hired in the insurance policy.

4. Liability ( Bodily Injury Liability and Property Damage Liability)
In the Mexican territory you can be covered for any injuries that you cause to somebody else in an car accident and it covers the damages caused to third party's property such as a car, house, post, etc.

The usual sum hired for this coverage goes from 500,000 pesos up to 1 million pesos. ( 1 million pesos is the recommended.)

5. Legal Assistance
In Mexico, Insurance companies may assign a lawyer to represent their clients when an accident is brought to court. This coverage also includes the payment of a bail bond if needed . The insured amount is equivalent to the liability hired.
